RAW MYSTICAL TEACHINGS
πŸ‘πŸ”…Jesus used to say, “I am the truth and the light”. Meaning, he who had become one with the Divine Truth and Light of the Self is himself the truth and light, living each moment in abidance in that Self. He becomes the beacon of light and truth to the world.
Once while Jesus was moving, he came across a known seeker, a potential seeker of truth, who was fit for enlightenment.
Jesus immediately asked him to follow him (meaning follow the truth and light). Like Ramana and teachers of the like mention that only the Self is the truth. Everything else arises from that truth (Self) and falls back into it. This was a reminder to the ripe seeker of abiding in nothing but the truth.
But Jesus said this, the man had a pause, because his father had just died. He said, “I shall follow you Master, but my father is dead. Let me go first and bury my father.”
Jesus immediately answered, “Follow me. Let the dead bury their dead.”
This might seem like a ruthless shocking statement from Jesus, but in this metaphoric statement is hidden a great truth.
πŸͺ· When Jesus said “Let the dead bury their dead” he is referring to those unaware and dead in consciousness. Who live their life as though what they are living in is the truth. They identify their near and dear ones as the body that they name. In this case, the people who are mourning the death of a person are mourning because they think the person has died, whereas he has never died for he was never born. What was born was the ego and identity of the person who then took himself as the father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc. He forgets that he is the spirit, the presence, who has entered into that identity and lost himself in that identity. Not just him, but all the people related to him (his body) took the soul to be someone. Because they are also falsely identified the person with the body, they are now weeping and grieving considering the body to be dead. Thus they weep for the dead, while the real him is still alive. He never died. But they cannot see it because they are also dead in consciousness. They are unconscious of the truth and light. Jesus stands here as the truth and light reminding the disciple of the jolting truth because he sees his disciple also succumbing to this ignorance. Thus, he asks him to leave the dead with the dead and go and abide in the kingdom of God (Self). Jesus wouldn’t say this to everyone, but here he says this only to this seeker because Jesus is aware that he is a ripe soul, just needing a nudge of reminder of truth.
This has nothing really to do with burying or not burying. It is just a crude reminder for him to question “Who am I?” Am I the son of a father or the Self pretending to be the son?
πŸ’₯ Jesus’ teachings are crude and direct, meant for ripe seekers. He roamed as a reminder to keep oneself facing the truth and aware of the maya (illusion) while attempting to liberate from the temporary experience in the human journey.
In continuation, he also tells similarly to another seeker.
LUKE CHAPTER 9
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
πŸ”… To the second man, he says there is no excuse once you have taken up the truth to keep deviating back to the non-Self. Only such seekers are fit for the kingdom of God (self-realisation). Here, he emphasises the consistent abidance in the Self without breaks and excuses of the mind to return back to the unreal.
