Bhagwan Nityananda says, “Cow milk can never be bitter; the stone fixed in the earth cannot speak; by visiting places of pilgrimage like Benares (presently Varanasi) and Rameshwaram, a man cannot attain Mukti. What is essential is keeping the mind steady (still) for a moment by introversion. Seeing earthen and stone images is not seeing God. It is mind’s hallucination when you regard images as God. Without true Jnana, Mukti cannot be attained.”

🍁 Although Bhagwan Nityananda did not oppose rituals or external worship and often advised them to the devotees, in the Chidakasha Gita, he is conveying to seekers the message of going beyond them. The purpose of all external worship is to increase devotion and humility, and to keep the ego in check. But once this purpose is accomplished, one should strive to deeply contemplate the higher truths described in the Vedas and Upanishads. External worship is useful only if it ultimately leads to inner Self. The purpose of all external worship is to draw the individual within. If this does not happen, it keeps the individual in duality, and thus God remains forever distant from the soul. This becomes an obstacle on the journey to self-realization. When, through the grace of external devotion, one successfully connects with the inner self, one begins to realize that everything external is merely a projection of the soul through the mind. The God within reflects itself in external forms and concepts. Thus, it is important for those seeking self-realization to abandon external concepts and practice inner reflection, seeking the source (Self) from which everything emanates.

🍁 यद्यपि भगवान नित्यानंद ने अनुष्ठानों या बाहरी पूजा का विरोध नहीं किया और अक्सर भक्तों को इसकी सलाह दी, फिर भी चिदाकाश गीता में वे साधकों को इससे परे जाने का संदेश दे रहे हैं। सभी बाहरी पूजा का उद्देश्य भक्ति और विनम्रता बढ़ाना, अहंकार को नियंत्रण में रखना है, लेकिन जब यह उद्देश्य पूरा हो जाता है, तो वेदों और उपनिषदों में वर्णित उच्च सत्यों पर गहराई से चिंतन करने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। बाहरी पूजा तभी उपयोगी है जब वह अंततः अंतर्मन की ओर ले जाए। सभी बाहरी पूजा का उद्देश्य व्यक्ति को भीतर ले जाना है। यदि ऐसा नहीं होता, तो यह व्यक्ति को द्वैत में रखता है और इस प्रकार ईश्वर हमेशा आत्मा से दूर रहता है। आत्म-साक्षात्कार की यात्रा में यह एक बाधा बन जाता है। बाहरी भक्ति की कृपा से जब व्यक्ति सफलतापूर्वक अंतर्मन से जुड़ जाता है, तो उसे यह अहसास होने लगता है कि बाहर की हर चीज मन के माध्यम से आत्मा का ही प्रक्षेपण है। भीतर का ईश्वर स्वयं को बाहरी रूपों और अवधारणाओं में प्रतिबिंबित करता है। आत्म-साक्षात्कार की तलाश करने वालों के लिए यह महत्वपूर्ण है कि वे बाहरी अवधारणाओं का त्याग करें और अंतर्मन का अभ्यास करें तथा उस स्रोत (आत्मा) की खोज करें जहाँ से सब कुछ प्रक्षेपित होता है।
